I was pregnant and due on January 30th. Six weeks early, on December 18th, my water broke, and I went into labor. My son, David Edward Borders, was born and spent 17 days in the High Risk Nursery at Columbus Regional in Columbus Georgia. The day I was discharged from the hospital and went home (45 min away from where my son was staying) was the hardest day of my life. Leaving him behind everyday after spending the day at the nicu was horrible. Finally, one of the wonderful nurses called the Ronald McDonald House around the corner, and got my husband and I a room. It was so nice every night being just around the corner from my son rather than 50 miles away. Also, their were meals there every night and food in the kitchen so that we did not have to go out to eat every night and eat fast food. We could not have afforded to stay in a hotel near by and had been killing ourselves driving back and forth every day. Being able to stay around the corner meant we had somewhere to take a nap, relax, and eat without having to drive or be a long way from David. The people there were wonderful, and we couldn't have made it through this experience in one piece. David did come home, and is doing wonderfully now and we are amazed at his progress.

Here at our Girl Scout Troop meetings we work with St. Benedicts elementary school and hold an Annual community Pop Tab Collection Drive to benefit the Ronald McDonald House near our school. @ of our girl Scouts have even stayed at the Ronald McDonalds houses as infants when first arriving in Chicago for surgery at the nearby Children Memorial Hospital. We are blessed to have two wonderful places that serve children and families and we say Thank you by sponsoring tha Annual Tab Collection. Every Class at St. benedicts collects the tabs and the class on each floor who brings in the most tabs wins a PIZZA PARTY! The students look forward to the eventand start collecting year round at home with friends and neighbors just to get ready.

My son was diagnosed with a cleft lip. He needed surgery on january 12th, 2010. His father, grandmaother and I needed to find a place to stay near CHOP, also, we are having financial difficulties due to the recession. When we called the ronald mcdonald house of philadelphia and got a reservation it was truely a blessing. They help famiolies out so much. They provide a home away from home. I am so pleased with the services they provided. The staff and volunteers have no idea how much our stay meant to my family and I. This organization is such a blessing!!! Azariah's surgery went well and our stay at the house was great. Thank you so much for all the services you provided us with!!!!
