This Story is about Ronald McDonald House

When I was pregnant with my twins an ultrasound had shown us that one of the twins had spina bifida and what looked like a hernia on his abdomen. We later found out that the hernia was actually a sack with his bowels in it. Being from Nebraska there were no experienced surgeons to perform the surgeries he would need shortly after birth. We had traveled to Kansas City when I was 35 weeks pregnant and was able to stay at the Ronald McDonald house until I gave birth 2 weeks later. When Ethan was 3 days old he had his first surgery and was in the NICU at childrens mercy for 2 months recovering. Knowing he was being cared for there I was taking care of his twin at home and traveling 12 hours round trip every weekend to come up to see my baby in the NICU. The Ronald McDonald house was a great place to stay as my home away from home. Im so thankful for the volunteers and people who make this house a great place to stay. Ethan will have many surgeries within the first years of his life and I am so glad I have a loving place to call home being so far away from my real home.

When I was only 21 months my mom came into my room to check on me, she saw I was discolored and barely breathing, my father being a firefighter was spending his time allotted time at the firehouse so my mom had to act quickly called the ambulance took me to the hospital where my family learned I had spinal meningitis.. And the fluid around my brain and spine would need to be releaved as soon as possible if I had any chance. I'd soon make a full recovery but not before several weeks being spent at the Ronald McDonald house trying to recover! They let my parents stay for free, provided meals and a safe place for me! You see the Ronald McDonald house not only saved my life but saved my parents as well they wouldn't have made it if it wasn't for the donations and volunteers so I give thanks whenever I can to the Ronald McDonald house
