Interacting with others going through a similar hardship is one of the greatest benefits to families staying at a Ronald McDonald House.  Pizza parties and movie nights are just some of the activities that help families build relationships.

Steve Simon, a Southwest Airlines pilot, has had a steady weekend date for the past 10 years with the families at the Ronald McDonald House of New York.  His volunteer team organizes pizza nights and outings to Central Park.

At the beginning, Steve admits, volunteering was just something to do. It quickly became much more. "It is an extraordinarily enriching experience," Steve says.

    I tried to volunteer her in Detroit, and was told I needed to be part of a GROUP. Bummer!
