Make quilts, afghans or knitted hats and mittens for families
Handmade quilts and afghans provide a sense of comfort for families far from home. Many families have children in the neonatal intensive care unit. When they finally take their child home from the hospital, a hand-made cap keeps baby warm and provides a cherished memento of their journey.
Last year, Warm Up America Foundation volunteers knitted and crocheted hundreds of afghans, caps and sweaters for teddy bears and donated them to almost two dozen Ronald McDonald Houses. This year, Warm Up America continues to work with the local Chapters to determine specific needs and activate its broad volunteer base.
If you'd like to use your quilting or knitting skills to help Ronald McDonald House Charities, contact your local RMHC Chapter or search VolunteerMatchto sign up for volunteer opportunities in your area.

My daughter Sofia received a quilt on Christmas, we had been in the Ann Arbor RMDH since her birth Nov. 19, 2008. When she was ready to go home Jan. 31, 2009 she recieved a knitted hat. I have both for her so when she grows old enough to understand the miracle she is I can show her and tell her all the stories of her birth and illness. It brought a lot of comfort to me on the nights I had to be away from her, I cuddled with the quilt and thought of her, it had her precious baby smell on it and it brought me great comfort. I hope one day she will pass it on to her daughter. Words can not express the comfort and warmth it not only brought my little Sofia and her mommy. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and God Bless all of you for putting so much love in every stich and every knitted hat you make. You all truely brought comfort in a time of such heartache.

The Ronald McDonald Quilters made me a quilt out of my deceased childs clothing. It's the cutest thing and a prized posession. It gives much comfort.
