RMHC is comprised of a network of 281 Ronald McDonald Houses, which translate into over 6,200 bedrooms per night, 125 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, 32 Ronald McDonald Care Mobile programs, 30,000 caring volunteers and staff, and a comprehensive grant program, which distributes hundreds of millions of dollars a year.
Since 1974, when our first Ronald McDonald House opened in Philadelphia, Ronald McDonald House Charities has grown into a global network of care. Driven by a passion to reach out to children in need, our core has grown beyond the cornerstone Ronald McDonald House to include the Ronald McDonald Family Room and the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile.
Because of outstanding staff members, volunteers, individual and corporate donors, and every family, each of these programs is transforming the lives of children in neighborhoods around the world.

- Ronald McDonald House
- Known as The House That Love Built®, the Ronald McDonald House program has been helping seriously ill children and their families for decades. Each Ronald McDonald House provides a safe, welcoming and warm home away from home for families of children receiving medical treatment at a nearby hospital. Today, there are 281 Ronald McDonald Houses in more than 30 countries and regions.
- Ronald McDonald Family Room
- Located near neonatal or pediatric intensive care units within the hospital, a Ronald McDonald Family Room provides a haven away from an often-hectic environment for families of children undergoing treatment. Many Ronald McDonald Family Rooms include children’s play areas and computer stations, and offer families a place to relax. There are currently 125 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in 13 countries and regions.
- Ronald McDonald Care Mobile
- Since 2000, the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile program has been providing cost-effective medical, dental and health education services directly to underserved children in rural and urban areas across the globe. Ronald McDonald Care Mobile extends the care of RMHC to children who need it most. Today, there are more than 32 Ronald McDonald Care Mobile programs in five countries.
- U.S. Scholarship Program
- RMHC is proud to offer scholarships to graduating high school students who face limited access to educational and career opportunities. Ronald McDonald House Charities has given $29 million in scholarships to date.
- RMHC Grants
- Ronald McDonald House Charities and its global network of local RMHC Chapters extends its reach by dedicating hundreds of millions of dollars in grants to children’s causes which make an immediate, positive impact on children who need it most.
